About L&Q

L&Q has grown rapidly to become the UK’s second largest housing trust, with 66,000 homes at the end of 2010 and another 10,000 in development. It operates throughout London and southeast England, and earns extra revenue through an increasing portfolio of commercial work, with build-to-sell accounting for 20% or more of its operations. A registered charity, it has merged with four other trusts since 2003 and has one of the sector’s strongest balance sheets.

“It has a social agenda and isn’t just about making money”

L&Q | Britain's Top Employers 2011 “I joined L&Q because it has a social agenda and isn’t just about making money. The graduate scheme was a great introduction and gave me an incredibly broad experience.

“I began in the supported living arm of L&Q, overseeing organisations that support vulnerable residents on our behalf. After a period in sales I moved to our housing management team: working on the front line with L&Q residents there was never a dull moment!

“My final placement was in the development land team, where I chose to stay. There’s great satisfaction in seeing new developments come out of the ground and knowing you’ve helped make that happen.”

Arlene Daly, project manager, joined February 2006
