About McDonald’s

McDonald’s is the runaway market leader in quick service restaurants. McDonald’s UK now has 1,200 restaurants nationwide, including 700 drive-thru outlets, serving approximately three million customers each day. Around 60% of these restaurants are owned by franchisees. Restaurants are located where they are most convenient to customers including the high street, drive-thrus and a range of sites at shopping centres, airports and leisure parks. The UK company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mc- Donald’s Corporation, one of the world’s greatest brands.

“I love the responsibility I am given and the interaction with the other employees”

McDonald’s | Britain's Top Employers 2011 “I joined McDonald’s in 1997 as a crew member and during my time with the company, I studied for a law degree which I completed in 2004. However, I decided a career at McDonald’s suited me more. I love the responsibility I am given and the interaction with the other employees in the restaurant, many of whom I now consider to be my close friends.

“I have just returned to work after having a tenweek paid sabbatical, one of the many benefits the company offers. I have also been able to travel to Sydney with McDonald’s for a manager’s conference. I currently work as abusiness manager and run my own restaurant in Manchester, which has over 100 employees and I have recently completed a Foundation Degree in Managing Business Operations through McDonald’s.”

Janette Moran, business manager, Manchester, joined 1997
